Police officers in Bodmin stopped a vehicle being used for a school run on April 23, 2025, and seized it after discovering multiple serious offences. The vehicle was found to have no valid MOT, no Vehicle Excise Licence, and no insurance, making it illegal to be on the road. The driver was reported for all three offences and the vehicle was taken off the road.

    Incident Details

The police stop occurred during routine patrols in Bodmin. Officers discovered that the vehicle being used to transport children to school was not roadworthy. “This vehicle was stopped by officers in Bodmin today having been used for the purposes of a school run – expired MOT, expired Vehicle Excise Licence and no insurance. Vehicle seized and driver reported for all offences,” the police statement read.

    Consequences and Implications

The incident highlights the potential dangers of using unroadworthy vehicles, even for routine tasks like school runs. Driving without a valid MOT, tax, or insurance is a serious offence that puts not only the driver at risk but also passengers and other road users. The police action demonstrates their commitment to enforcing road safety regulations.

While specific details about the driver and the exact location of the stop have not been released, the incident serves as a warning to others about the importance of maintaining their vehicles’ legal status. The vehicle’s seizure and the driver’s prosecution underscore the serious consequences of neglecting these critical road safety requirements.
