Kingfisher Insurance Introduces Vintage Sports-Car Club Insurance Scheme
Kingfisher Insurance, through its classic vehicle brand Peter James Insurance, has launched a new insurance scheme called Vintage Sports-Car Club Insurance, specifically designed for members of the Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC). The scheme, which became available on May 1, 2025, aims to provide tailored insurance coverage for vintage car enthusiasts, enhancing both the ownership experience and participation in club activities.
The policy offers exclusive rates for VSCC members, with additional discounts based on the length of membership. Key features of the insurance scheme include agreed value coverage, member-to-member cover, salvage retention, UK and European breakdown cover, and tools and spare parts cover up to £3,000. Additional benefits include a self-repair option, legal expenses cover, laid-up cover, and limited mileage discounts.
A significant aspect of the scheme is its focus on attracting younger enthusiasts, aligning with the VSCC’s goal of introducing a new generation to vintage car ownership. Kingfisher Insurance and Peter James Insurance are supporting this initiative through projects such as the Borrow a Classic scheme, designed to introduce younger people to classic motoring.
Kingfisher Insurance, a specialist broker in the UK market, has been active in forming partnerships with various classic vehicle clubs. The new collaboration with the VSCC follows a successful 2024 for Peter James Insurance, during which they introduced new schemes with organizations like the MG Car Club, Morgan Sports Car Club, Royal Enfield Owners Club, and the 2CVGB Club.
In addition to the VSCC partnership, Kingfisher Insurance has launched another scheme for members of the British Two Stroke Club, available since January. This scheme offers benefits tailored to the club’s members, including member-to-member cover, free helmet and leathers cover, and self-repair options.
The VSCC, established in 1934, is one of the largest and most recognized motoring clubs worldwide, focusing on pre-war cars. It was recently named Club of the Year at The National Car Club Awards. Tania Brown, Club Secretary at the VSCC, commented that the new insurance scheme adds value to club membership and supports the club’s efforts to attract new members to vintage motoring.
“We believe in growing our community and introducing new faces to the world of vintage motoring, and this scheme, and the support from Peter James Insurance, is crucial to achieving this aim,” Brown said.
The new insurance scheme demonstrates Kingfisher Insurance’s commitment to supporting vintage car enthusiasts and their communities, while also highlighting the company’s proactive approach to developing specialized insurance products for niche markets.
