OnePack Plan Pet Insurance Launches in Canada

TORONTO, May 5, 2025 – OnePack Plan is proud to announce its entry into the Canadian market, offering employers a unique solution to provide pet insurance as an employee benefit. Despite 58% of Canadian households owning a dog or cat, only 2% of workplaces currently offer pet insurance. OnePack Plan addresses this gap with affordable, payroll-deducted coverage for cats and dogs.

The newly introduced insurance offers a flat group rate, making veterinary costs more manageable for employees. “The average veterinary visit for an accident or illness can cost up to $1,000,” said Michelle Yates, EVP of Business Development at OnePack Plan in Canada. “By offering OnePack Plan, employers can help alleviate the financial strain of unexpected veterinary bills, allowing employees to focus on their pets’ care.”

Research by OnePack Plan found that 50% of Canadian pet owners are interested in employer-offered pet insurance, demonstrating significant demand for this benefit. The insurance provides comprehensive coverage with optional wellness and preventative care add-ons, featuring no breed restrictions and coverage for pre-existing conditions after 365 days of continuous coverage.

OnePack Plan’s integration with existing benefits administration software simplifies the onboarding process for HR professionals and enrollment for employees. The program allows for customization to fit various business needs across small, mid-size, and large companies.

“We’ve seen a growing focus on workplace wellness and recognize the significant role pets play in improving mental health,” Yates explained. “Implementing pet insurance can be a game-changer for employee satisfaction and retention.”
