Suncorp Insurance and Leo Australia Launch Haven Platform to Help Homes Prepare for Extreme Weather

Suncorp Insurance and Leo Australia have joined forces to create Haven, a groundbreaking digital platform that empowers Australian homes to prepare for extreme weather events. This innovative tool lets houses ‘speak up’ about looming cyclones, bushfires, floods, and storms, and provides homeowners with tailored advice on how to enhance their resilience.

Australia is on the frontlines of climate change, with over 2.7 million addresses facing a high risk from at least one extreme weather peril. Haven directly addresses this challenge by combining property, location, weather, and natural hazard data into a personalized resilience report for any address in the country. By simply entering their street name, homeowners can access a short, AI-generated video that highlights their home’s greatest threats and the most critical fixes.

The Haven platform is powered by ethical AI, which customizes each video according to the age and style of the house. Homeowners can download a detailed, interactive checklist packed with practical upgrades, ranging from clearing gutters to installing water-resistant skirting. The platform seamlessly integrates live Google APIs for 3D visualization, CoreLogic’s granular property intelligence, Geoscape’s geospatial expertise, and real-time forecasts from WillyWeather, ensuring a user-friendly, mobile-first experience.

For Leo Australia, Haven represents the next chapter in their resilience storytelling journey, which began with the ‘One House’ initiative in 2021, continued with ‘Resilience Road’ in 2022, and evolved into the ‘If Your Home Could Talk’ campaign in 2023. Andy Fergusson, Chief Creative Officer at Leo Australia, emphasized that the Suncorp resilience journey now extends to every house in Australia, made possible by the shared vision and collaboration among numerous stakeholders.

Mim Haysom, Suncorp Executive General Manager of Brand and Customer Experience, noted that the Haven experience includes extreme weather risk data for storms, cyclones, floods, and bushfires, making resilience tips more tailored to each property. The campaign is launching across various channels, including OOH, TV, cinema, social media, and digital platforms like YouTube and Spotify. Homeowners can experience Haven at https://haven.suncorp.com.au.

    Key Features of Haven:

    • Personalized resilience reports for homes across Australia
    • AI-generated videos highlighting specific threats and necessary fixes
    • Interactive checklists for homeowners with practical upgrades
    • Seamless integration of various data sources for a comprehensive assessment

By providing homeowners with the tools and knowledge to prepare for extreme weather events, Suncorp Insurance and Leo Australia are taking a significant step towards enhancing community resilience in the face of climate change.
