BOXX Insurance has launched Cyberboxx Assist, a comprehensive suite of cyber security tools and services available to holders of its Cyberboxx Business and Cyberboxx Home policies. The platform is designed to support users in identifying, mitigating, and responding to cyber threats through a combination of risk assessments, compliance tools, and round-the-clock access to cyber security support.
Cyberboxx Assist includes a range of tools such as attack surface management, identity monitoring, threat intelligence, employee training modules, and security policy templates. A virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) service is also available to help businesses evaluate cyber risks and develop appropriate response strategies. According to BOXX, these features are included within its existing policies and are intended to support clients in managing cyber risk while streamlining service delivery for brokers and partners.
Jonathan Weekes, president of BOXX Insurance Canada, stated that integrating cyber security features with insurance coverage can help reduce exposures, losses, and claims. He emphasized that the bundled approach is designed to assist brokers in providing clients with a single solution for both coverage and protection. The company highlighted that small businesses face increasing cyber risks but often lack the resources for dedicated cyber security personnel. Cyberboxx Assist aims to address this by offering access to services that would typically be out of reach for smaller firms.
Neal Jardine, chief cyber intelligence and claims officer, noted that combining insurance coverage with preventative tools may help reduce the likelihood of claims. He pointed out that the service is intended to address exposures such as cloud service interruptions and supply chain vulnerabilities. Jardine added that many small businesses rely on platforms like Microsoft 365 and other cloud-based systems, and that outages in these areas can disrupt operations.
BOXX also plans to offer Cyberboxx Assist as a standalone product or through white-labelled partnerships. The company noted that there is growing demand for cyber protection offerings across sectors including financial services, telecommunications, and travel. According to recent data cited by BOXX, a majority of Canadian consumers expect businesses to take greater steps to protect personal data and reduce the risk of cyber incidents. Weekes mentioned that some large brands are exploring ways to incorporate cyber services into their customer offerings but lack the infrastructure or expertise to implement them. He added that BOXX aims to address this need by providing a ready-made solution that can be integrated into existing client-facing services.
