Life Insurance Corporation of India Achieves Guinness World Record
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has secured a Guinness World Record for selling 5,88,107 life insurance policies in a single day on January 20, 2025. This achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of 4,52,839 LIC agents across India. The initiative, led by MD and CEO Siddhartha Mohanty, aimed to provide financial protection to numerous families.

According to the corporation’s statement, Guinness World Records officially verified the feat, setting a new global benchmark for agent productivity in the life insurance industry within a single day. “This monumental effort is a powerful validation of the relentless dedication, skill, and tireless work ethics of our agents,” the statement noted. The record-setting performance was part of an initiative led by Mohanty, who had called on every agent to issue at least one policy on January 20, observed as ‘Mad Million Day’.
Speaking on the milestone, Mohanty expressed his gratitude to customers, agents, and employees for making ‘Mad Million Day’ a historic success. This achievement reflects LIC’s deep commitment to providing vital financial protection to customers and their families.
