Zurich has announced the appointment of Morris Garsin as its new Head of Claims Excellence for Australia and New Zealand, starting August 2025. Garsin joins Zurich from Suncorp, where he currently serves as Head of Home Claims, working closely with claims related to natural hazards and vulnerable customers.
Garsin brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, particularly in life and general insurance. In his new role, he will work closely with Zurich’s claims team to develop the company’s engagement with technology, aiming to improve customer claims experiences and outcomes.
Matt Paterson, Chief Claims Officer at Zurich, expressed his delight in welcoming Garsin to the team. “Claims is our moment to deliver on the promise we make to our customers,” Paterson said. “As Head of Claims Excellence, Morris will be responsible for ensuring we uphold and continually improve Zurich’s customer-centric claims approach, which centres on care and empathy.”
Garsin will also play a crucial role in accelerating Zurich’s investment in claims technology, including the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) where appropriate. The company is already seeing significant benefits from AI across claims management timeframes, vulnerable customer identification, and data processing.
Zurich’s appointment of Garsin signals the company’s renewed focus on claims strategy and transformation. The move is expected to enhance Zurich’s customer-centric claims approach and improve the overall claims experience for its customers.
