Insurance Council of Australia Returns to Casterton for Storm Claim Support

Residents of Casterton will have another opportunity to meet with insurers next month as the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) prepares for a new round of consultations related to the October 2023 storm and hail event. The follow-up sessions come nearly two years after the disaster, with many locals still navigating the claims and rebuilding process.

The ICA states that the continued presence of insurers aims to help customers resolve outstanding issues and access further support. “We acknowledge that despite quite some time passing since this event, recovery is still very much ongoing for this community,” said ICA CEO Andrew Hall.

The sessions will take place at the Casterton Town Hall on July 3 from 10:00am to 7:00pm and July 4 from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Various insurers will be available for one-on-one meetings, allowing policyholders to discuss individual claims and ask specific questions. Information on the broader claims process and dispute resolution will also be available for those seeking general advice.

Attendance is free, but bookings are required via the ICA website. Hall encouraged those with outstanding claims to attend, saying, “I encourage anyone with an outstanding claim to come see your insurer in-person for tailored advice.”

The ICA previously hosted community consultations in April earlier this year. “Our return to the region signifies our commitment to working closely with policyholders and all those along the supply chain – including builders, suppliers, and assessors – on finalizing outstanding claims,” Hall explained.

These follow-up sessions demonstrate the ICA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Casterton community through the prolonged recovery process.
