Massive Identity Theft Uncovered in Omaha Raid
OMAHA, Neb. (KCAU) — The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed details on June 18 about a significant raid at Glenn Valley Foods in Omaha, Nebraska. The operation, conducted on June 10, uncovered a massive identity theft scheme impacting numerous unsuspecting U.S. citizens.
According to federal authorities, a multi-agency investigation led by ICE discovered that about 70 illegal aliens were using stolen Social Security numbers and identities to unlawfully obtain employment authorization, health benefits, and wages. Mark Zito, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations Kansas City, condemned the actions, stating, “These so-called honest workers have caused an immeasurable amount of financial and emotional hardship for innocent Americans.”
The identity theft has left over 100 victims facing emotional, financial, and legal consequences across multiple states, including California, Colorado, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Zito emphasized the human impact, saying, “These victims aren’t faceless statistics; they’re real people who are being denied healthcare and have lost educational opportunities.”
The investigation is ongoing, with ICE urging anyone with information about suspected immigration violations to contact their Tip Line at 866-347-2423 or online. The U.S. Department of Justice announced on June 16 that five people were charged following encounters with federal law enforcement during the warrant’s execution.
As of the latest updates, more than 60 illegal aliens remain in the Lincoln County, NE Jail pending immigration proceedings. The worksite enforcement operation at Glenn Foods Valley is noted as the largest in Nebraska since the beginning of President Trump’s second term.
ICE continues to investigate the matter, highlighting the complex nature of identity theft and its far-reaching consequences for U.S. citizens.
