HONG KONG, June 24, 2025 — Sompo, a global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, has announced leadership changes in its Commercial P&C Insurance business in Hong Kong. Li Sheung Kin (S.K.), the current CEO of Sompo Insurance (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., will retire from his role. During his 24-year career with Sompo Hong Kong, Mr. Li has held various leadership positions and was appointed CEO in 2016. He has played a crucial role in strengthening Sompo’s presence in the Hong Kong market and will remain with the company until the end of 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
Alasdair Walker will succeed Mr. Li as CEO of Sompo Hong Kong, pending local regulatory and immigration approvals. In his new role, Mr. Walker will focus on driving Sompo Hong Kong’s profitability and enhancing its capabilities as a key Commercial business hub in the Asia Pacific region. He will report to Kenneth Reilly, CEO of Insurance, Asia Pacific, and Deputy CEO of Commercial Insurance at Sompo Japan.
Mr. Walker joined Sompo in 2023, bringing with him extensive experience from another major international insurance carrier where he held positions in London, Johannesburg, and Singapore, and served as Regional Head of Distribution. Kenneth Reilly, Mr. Walker’s superior, expressed gratitude to Mr. Li for his dedication and contributions to Sompo, wishing him well in his future endeavors. Mr. Reilly also welcomed Mr. Walker to the Hong Kong and Asia Pacific leadership teams, highlighting his 15 years of international insurance experience across three continents in both underwriting and distribution as ideal qualifications for overseeing Sompo’s strategic plans in the region.
