OpenRoad Insurance Jumps into the Collector Car Insurance Space
OpenRoad Insurance is making a splash in the collector vehicle insurance arena. They’ve created a Managing General Agent (MGA) to focus specifically on insuring classic and modern collector cars.

OpenRoad has already secured a license from the Texas Department of Insurance. They’re planning a rollout across several US states later this summer.
Leading the charge at OpenRoad is CEO Richard Hutchinson. He’s a seasoned insurance industry pro with over 30 years under his belt, including executive gigs at Progressive, Hagerty, and Forge.
OpenRoad is backed by majority investor Griffin Highline Capital. National Interstate, a subsidiary of Great American, will be providing the underwriting capacity.
CEO Richard Hutchinson shared his enthusiasm: “Most of the 40 million-plus collector vehicles in the US are insured by standard auto insurance providers. Our program stands out because it’s built with specialized coverage and services, designed for car enthusiasts. We’re thrilled to offer this community more options, comprehensive coverage, and fair pricing.”
