Specialty Risk Re Secures $50M Funding
Specialty Risk Re (SRR), a collateral reinsurance company, has successfully completed a $50 million institutional funding round. NMS Capital Group spearheaded the investment.

This financing will allow SRR to increase its reinsurance capacity. The company aims to support program carriers and managing general agents (MGAs).
SRR was established to address the growing shortage of reinsurance options. The company focuses on quota share and excess-of-loss (XOL) reinsurance programs. They plan to work with a select group of program administrators.
Jonathan Collura, SRR’s president and CEO, commented on the achievement. He stated that the funding is a key step in establishing SRR as a reliable and well-capitalized partner. Their strategy involves careful risk selection to build a diversified business portfolio. By leveraging their strong capital and domestic presence, SRR aims to be a preferred reinsurance partner.
The market has reacted favorably to SRR’s approach, with investors already committing to provide more capital as early as the end of the first quarter of 2025. Collura is also a member of the company’s board of directors and underwriting committee.
SRR’s underwriting strategy is focused on mid- to long-tail risks. They provide structured risk-sharing solutions and employ a systematic growth model to maximize long-term insurance and investment returns.
Founded in 2024, SRR specializes in non-CAT (non-catastrophe) property and casualty programs. These programs have established loss histories. SRR offers sustainable reinsurance solutions for MGAs and carriers. They also provide structured financial solutions. These solutions support long-term growth, risk diversification, and capital efficiency.
