New Protection Plan Fights Real Estate Fraud

Iris® Powered by Generali has launched Total Title Protection, a plan designed to help protect consumers from real estate fraud, identity theft, and cyberattacks.

The new plan comes in response to the growing threat of real estate fraud, which cost consumers more than $145 million in 2023. The Total Title Protection package combines several services to provide comprehensive protection for homebuyers.

Paige Schaffer, CEO of Iris, noted that this type of fraud is increasing and that the new plan aims to provide a solution that goes beyond standard title monitoring. The plan offers services such as home title monitoring and alerts, which provide customers with notifications regarding changes made to their property title that could indicate fraudulent activity. Furthermore, the plan includes a $2 million reimbursement for identity theft expenses related to home title fraud.

Real estate fraud tactics include forging deeds and fraudulently refinancing homes. In Q4 2023, nearly 52% of loans had at least one wire or title fraud risk issue.

Additional features of Total Title Protection include caller ID monitoring and alerts, ScamAssist®, personal cyber protection, 24/7 resolution assistance, and monthly risk reports. Michele Krisanda, Senior VP of Global Product Development, explained that the plan actively monitors for potential fraud across thousands of county recorders offices.
