The cybersecurity incident, which occurred in December, involved a Ukraine-based hacker. The Scott County School System was among the thousands of systems affected across the United States and Canada. Social security numbers dating back to 2014 were among the compromised data.
Scott County Director of Schools Bill Hall informed parents and staff about the breach on January 10. PowerSchool will provide the identity protection and credit monitoring services for two years. The company will notify those affected over the next few weeks and will also set up a call center to address any questions.
