As a spouse, dependent child, or survivor of a Veteran or service member, you may be entitled to various benefits designed to provide support and assistance. These benefits span a range of needs, including healthcare, life insurance, educational opportunities, and financial aid. Additionally, those caring for a Veteran can access resources to help them provide better care and support for their own well-being.

    Benefits by Category:

    • Healthcare and Related Benefits: Discover eligibility for programs like CHAMPVA and other healthcare options. Learn about caregiver support, including training, counseling, and financial assistance.

    • Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (VA DIC) and Survivors Pension: Determine eligibility for financial compensation from the VA.

    • Education Assistance: Explore opportunities for financial aid for education, including the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance Program (Chapter 35) or the Fry Scholarship, which can include the transfer of unused Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits by the Veteran.

    • Home Loan Programs: Investigate eligibility for VA-backed loans for purchasing, building, improving, or refinancing a home.

    • Life Insurance Benefits: Inquire about Family Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) coverage and how to manage existing policies. Beneficiaries can also access free financial advice and will preparation services.

    • Burial and Memorial Benefits: Find out if eligible for burial in a VA national cemetery and apply for assistance with burial costs, request memorial items, and access bereavement counseling.

Additional Resources for Veterans, Survivors, and Caregivers:

The VA provides a variety of benefits, including benefits for Veterans with service-connected disabilities or other eligibility requirements and online health management tools. Further resources include:

    • Disability Compensation: Monthly financial aid for conditions linked to military service.

    • Pension Benefits: Monthly financial aid for wartime Veterans with limited or no income who meet certain age and disability requirements.

    • Home Loan Programs: Home loan programs available to help Veterans and service members with homeownership, as well as disability housing grants to help Veterans with service-connected disabilities make changes to their home.

    • Life Insurance: Life insurance options and online policy management tools for Veterans and their families.
