Globe Life Announces Data Breach Affecting Hundreds of Thousands

Globe Life, Inc., the parent company of American Income Life Insurance Company, has reported a significant data breach potentially impacting up to 850,000 individuals. The incident involved unauthorized access to sensitive personal information, prompting the company to notify affected consumers.

According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Globe Life initially discovered a compromise of its IT network on June 13, 2024. The company initially estimated the breach affected roughly 5,000 people. However, a subsequent review revealed a far greater scale of impact.

The January 30, 2025, notice from Globe Life cited a potential total of 850,000 individuals affected.

The compromised data may include a wide range of personal details, such as names, Social Security numbers, email and postal addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, health information, and insurance policy data.

    Investigation and Notification Process

Following the discovery of the breach, Globe Life initiated an investigation to determine the scope and nature of the incident. The company began sending data breach notification letters to individuals whose information was found to be compromised.

The increased estimate of affected individuals stemmed from the discovery that hackers also accessed specific databases maintained by “independent insurance agency owners.”

    What Consumers Should Do

Individuals who receive notification letters from Globe Life are advised to take steps to protect themselves from potential fraud and identity theft. It is recommended that they review their account statements and credit reports carefully for any signs of unauthorized activity. Data breach lawyers are available to explain consumers’ rights and legal options in the wake of the security incident.
