Kyobo Life Insurance Supports Students with Hope Dasom Scholarship
Kyobo Life Insurance announced on February 27th that it held its “2025 Kyobo Life Insurance Hope Dasom Scholarship Certificate Ceremony.” This initiative is designed to provide financial assistance to college students selected by the Kyobo Education Foundation, specifically targeting students from low-income families.

Kyobo Life Insurance and the Kyobo Education Foundation collaborate to select approximately 20 college freshmen each year. These students receive ongoing financial support throughout their undergraduate studies. Furthermore, students who achieve excellent grades are eligible for additional scholarships recognizing their academic performance. Beyond financial aid, Kyobo Bookstore provides annual book support to foster personal growth through reading.
The recent certificate ceremony, held at the Kyobo Life Insurance Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, saw approximately 80 scholarship recipients in attendance, including 20 new students from the 23rd year of the Hope Dasom program.
During the ceremony, the participating students received their Hope Dasom scholarship certificates. They also affirmed their commitment to their responsibilities as members of Kyobo Life Insurance’s Hope Dasom scholarship program. Notably, a fourth-year graduate of the Hope Dasom program, who is currently a professor at Korea University after a career at Google, acted as a mentor at the event. They shared insights into the challenges of self-reliance and offered practical advice based on their personal experiences.
To date, the Hope Dasom Scholarship Project has supported 480 scholars. Impressively, 380 of these individuals have gone on to become social workers after completing their education. Kyobo Life Insurance has committed over 6 billion won to this initiative so far.
Choi Hwa-jung, chairman of the Kyobo Education Foundation, emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “The Hope Dasom Scholarship Project is a program that helps young people discover their potential and grow into talented people who contribute to society, going beyond simple tuition support.”
Looking ahead, the Kyobo Education Foundation plans to broaden its support for scholarship recipients. This will encompass social education programs and opportunities for networking. This comprehensive approach aims to help these students, who are nearing the completion of their program, smoothly transition into society.
