Financial Planning Prayer Breakfast at Faithful Band
PLEASANT HILL – The Brothers In Christ, a men’s organization associated with the Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church, is set to host a special prayer breakfast on March 22. The event aims to educate local citizens on essential topics such as personal finance management, life insurance, and the fundamentals of estate planning.
The breakfast will commence at 10 a.m. in the Gilbert and Maggie Harding Fellowship Hall. Attendance is free and open to all men from churches in the surrounding area.
Terry Edwards of Secure Financial Partners, a Conway-based company, will serve as the guest speaker. Edwards emphasized the critical importance of financial literacy within the community, stating that it’s vital for people, especially men, to have a will, understand retirement planning and estate planning, and grasp the complexities of wills, trusts, and asset distribution for their loved ones.
Edwards, a Conway native and graduate of Northampton County High School East, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elizabeth City State University. Prior to founding Secure Financial Partners in 2015, he worked in the credit union industry for 16 years.
“The time to get our business in order is now, because tomorrow is not promised,” Edwards said. “Too many people procrastinate about getting their houses in order, thinking that they will be around forever and not doing the things necessary to make sure they have legal documentation indicating who their beneficiaries are and making sure that they are taken care of after they are gone. So, that will be our goal when we make our presentation at Faithful Band on March 22. We want to help the men in attendance get on track to create situations which will cause less stress on their respective family members when that day has come.”
Following Edwards’ presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session. This will provide a platform for addressing specific questions related to the guest speaker’s topics.
This Faith Baptist quarterly prayer breakfast is one in a series of events sponsored by the church designed to educate local men on a range of topics pertinent to “kingdom building.” Previous discussions have covered subjects such as prostate cancer, personal finances, and the essence of Christian brotherhood. Another similar gathering is planned for later this year, likely in late summer or early fall.
Beyond the prayer breakfasts, the Brothers In Christ actively engage in community service projects. These include the Adopt A Highway program, assisting elderly church members with routine home repairs, and providing transportation for the needy to doctor’s appointments. Men interested in joining the Brothers In Christ organization can obtain applications at the event.
