Direct Line Group (DLG) has unveiled a new accreditation program for its vehicle damage assessors (VDAs). The initiative aims to equip VDAs with specialized skills to handle the increasing complexity of modern vehicles.
The program will provide specialized training focusing on advanced materials used in vehicle construction, electric vehicle systems, and safety features, such as advanced driver assistance systems. This training will enable DLG’s VDAs to diagnose and repair vehicles across the insurer’s 23 motor accident repair centers throughout the UK.
To support the training, DLG has invested in dedicated training vehicles, allowing assessors to practice on real-world scenarios. The Institute of the Motor Industry has recognized the program, which DLG considers a significant milestone.

The program comes as vehicles incorporate increasingly advanced technology, driving the need for highly skilled assessors, according to DLG.
