India: LIC Ranked World’s Third Strongest Insurance Brand
In a recent report, Brand Finance recognized India’s Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) as the third strongest insurance brand globally. The Brand Finance Insurance 100 2025 report, which evaluates insurers worldwide, awarded LIC an impressive Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 88 out of 100.

Besides its brand strength, LIC also secured the 12th position in overall brand value among the most valuable insurance brands worldwide. Within the top 100, SBI Life also made the list, ranking 76th, making these the only two Indian insurers to be recognized.
Poland-based PZU claimed the top spot with a BSI score of 94.4, followed closely by China Life Insurance, which scored 93.5, securing the second position.
The report indicated significant growth across the top 100 insurance brands, with an overall 9% increase in brand value in 2025. This growth was fueled by improved underwriting results, increased investment income, rising interest rates, and enhanced profitability. Moreover, the market capitalization of leading insurance brands saw a rise due to the increasing demand for insurance products across various sectors.
Economic recovery and positive market sentiment led to greater investor confidence, while strategic mergers, acquisitions, and technological advancements further accelerated the industry’s growth trajectory.
LIC’s financial performance for the December quarter of the year saw a 17% year-over-year boost in net profit, reaching INR11,056.47cr ($1.3 billion), compared to INR9,444.42cr the previous year. This growth was attributed to a reduction in management expenses, particularly employee-related costs.
