Leadership Changes Announced at Alera Group and Brown & Riding
Alera Group and Brown & Riding have recently announced key leadership appointments designed to bolster their respective business operations and enhance client service.
Alera Group Appoints New Managing Director

Alera Group has named Talicia Bashford as its new managing director for the Midwest region, effective immediately. In this role, Bashford will be responsible for driving growth across the region, focusing on fostering collaboration between offices, improving operational efficiency, and expanding market presence.
“Talicia is an executive who leads with both focus and empathy – for clients and colleagues,” said Gary Piantedosi, president of Alera Group. He added, “Those characteristics, combined with her strategic insights and collaborative leadership style, will benefit both clients and colleagues, and we’re excited about the future.”
Bashford joined Alera Group in 2024 as mid-Atlantic property and casualty practice leader. She brings over two decades of experience in leadership roles within the insurance industry, including a stint as president of AssuredPartners of Chicago after previously holding the chief operating officer position for its Illinois platform.
Brown & Riding Expands Transportation Practice Leadership
Brown & Riding has expanded its transportation practice leadership by naming Courtney Murphree as co-leader. She will work alongside Tim Pedersen Jr.
“I’m excited to partner with Courtney as we continue to expand and strengthen our transportation practice,” said Pedersen. “Her expertise will be invaluable as we grow the practice and help clients navigate the complexities of the market.”
Murphree, who was named a Brown & Riding principal in 2023, brings over 12 years of industry experience. In her new role, she will concentrate on advancing strategic initiatives, cultivating talent within the practice, and enhancing the team’s capacity to deliver customized solutions nationwide.
