GEICO Strengthens Commercial Insurance with North Texas Expansion

GEICO is set to add 500 new jobs in North Texas as part of a strategic move to bolster its commercial insurance division. This expansion comes in response to increased demand in the commercial insurance market, particularly following the introduction of new products like long-haul trucking insurance over the past 18 months.

Of the 500 new positions, 300 will be based in Richardson, Texas, which serves as a pivotal hub for the company’s small business customers. This location complements existing facilities in Katy, Texas, and Fredericksburg, Virginia. The remaining 200 jobs will support sales, service, and claims across GEICO’s broader commercial insurance lines.

Jason Andrukonis, GEICO’s head of commercial insurance operations, emphasized the strategic advantages of North Texas for the company’s growth. He highlighted the region’s robust business environment and skilled workforce, positioning it as a critical area within the $300 billion commercial insurance market.

“We consider our investment today a down payment that will help position GEICO to become the premier destination for all small business insurance. These teams will help small businesses across the country save money and protect their livelihoods,” Andrukonis stated.

Richardson Mayor Bob Dubey praised GEICO’s investment in the community, highlighting the city’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for local businesses and residents. He noted that GEICO’s choice to expand in Richardson underscores the city’s economic appeal and its dedication to creating opportunities that stimulate local job growth and workforce development.

“Our focus remains on building a community where businesses and residents alike can thrive, supported by amenities that foster growth and success. This announcement is a strong indicator that our efforts are paying off—enhancing our local economy and workforce while attracting new opportunities for growth and expansion,” Mayor Dubey added.

GEICO is currently hiring for roles in commercial insurance sales and service and also offers leadership development programs for those seeking management positions.
