Ahn Se-young Returns Home Victorious After All-England Open Win

Ahn Se-young, the celebrated South Korean badminton player, returned home on March 18th after an impressive victory at the BWF World Tour Super 1000 All-England Open. The triumph solidified her position as one of the world’s top badminton players.
Ahn, representing Samsung Life Insurance, secured the Women’s Singles title at the tournament. She arrived at Incheon International Airport alongside fellow Korean badminton players, including Seo Seung-jae and Kim Won-ho, who also participated in the competition.
This victory marks another milestone for Ahn, following her success at the 2023 event. Facing China’s Wang Zhiyi, Ahn demonstrated exceptional resilience and mental fortitude, even while managing a thigh injury. Her performance reinforced the reasons why she is considered a top player in the world.
“I’m happy to win the All-England Open over such prominent players,” Ahn commented. “I believe there’s much more I can show you in the future. My best days are yet to come. I will continue to work hard to achieve my new dreams.”
The win at the All-England Open is just another achievement for Ahn, who has now secured four tournament victories this year and extended her winning streak to 20 consecutive games. However, she remains humble.
Despite her outstanding success, Ahn rated her overall performance at 70 to 80 out of 100. “The results have been good, but I don’t think I’m quite at 100 yet. It’s regrettable that I didn’t manage my injury well. Next time, I’ll focus more on improving my physical condition,” she explained.
Ahn also discussed the unique crown ceremony she performed after her victory. “I wanted to do a great ceremony because I won during difficult moments. As the competition was held in England, we did a crown ceremony related to the Queen,” she said with a smile.
Ahn also expressed her excitement about being called the “Greatest Of All Time” (GOAT) within the badminton community. “It feels really good when the modifier GOAT comes after my name,” she stated. “I think I’m trying harder to become a player who meets my expectations.
“I will prepare well and continue to show good performances,” she vowed.
