Class Action Claims Farmers Life Insurance Overcharges, Improperly Lapses Policies
March 19, 2025
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Farmers New World Life Insurance Co., alleging the company overcharged policyholders for life insurance and improperly lapsed policies.
The complaint, filed in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County on March 18, accuses the defendants of “despicable conduct” carried out “maliciously, oppressively and fraudulently,” causing “unjust hardship and distress” to the plaintiffs and class members.
Evelyn Navarro and the estate of Virginia Meza are the named plaintiffs in the suit. Navarro was a beneficiary under Meza’s life insurance policy.
Attorneys Joshua H. Haffner, Trevor Weinberg, and Josh N. Sipp of Haffner Law are representing the plaintiff and proposed class. Counsel for the plaintiff did not respond to requests for comment.
