GEICO Announces Expansion, Adding Over 2,000 Jobs in Florida and Texas

GEICO, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, is set to expand its presence in both Florida and North Texas, creating over 2,000 new jobs. The insurance giant will open new offices in Tampa, Florida, and Richardson, Texas, bolstering its customer service capabilities in these key regions.

Tampa Campus to Bring Over 1,000 Jobs

In Tampa, GEICO will be establishing a new campus, marking its third location in Florida, alongside existing offices in Jacksonville and Lakeland. This expansion is anticipated to generate more than 1,000 employment opportunities.

“Tampa’s robust talent pool and dynamic business environment make it the ideal location for our newest office, allowing us to better serve our growing customer base with various insurance products while creating significant employment opportunities in the region,” said Angela Rinella, GEICO’s senior vice president.

The new campus will span 190,000 square feet and is located near Tampa International Airport. The facility will accommodate employees in sales, customer service, and claims roles. Hiring is slated to commence in April.

    Second Richardson Office Planned

GEICO is also growing its operations in North Texas with a second office in Richardson. This expansion follows the December 2024 announcement of 500 new positions, bringing the total number of new jobs in the region to over 1,500.

According to Melissa Gallaro, GEICO senior vice president, “The outstanding talent pool in North Texas has been instrumental in driving GEICO’s success, and we are thrilled to expand our presence in Richardson. The skilled workforce in the region has enabled us to achieve significant growth.”

The new 165,000-square-foot building is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025 and will support sales, service, and claims operations. Once complete, GEICO will occupy approximately 400,000 square feet of office space across its two Richardson locations. A news release noted that GEICO has experienced substantial growth in the area since designating Richardson as a key hub for its commercial insurance operations.

GEICO was founded in 1936 and operates across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The company offers a wide range of insurance products, including commercial auto, homeowners, and renters insurance, through its affiliated partners.
