Alan Boswell Group Strengthens Presence in Suffolk Through Acquisition
Alan Boswell Group (ABG) has acquired Andrew Thompson & Associates (AT&A), a commercial insurance broker based in East Suffolk. The acquisition follows ABG’s recent purchases of Priory Insurance Brokers and The Insurance Centre in Norfolk during 2024. While the terms of the deal remain undisclosed, AT&A’s operations will continue as usual, with their staff and premises remaining intact. Clients will now have access to ABG’s broader range of services, backed by their financial services division that employs 450 people.
This strategic move enhances ABG’s presence in Suffolk, complementing their existing office in Bury St Edmunds. Andrew Thompson, founder of AT&A, reassured clients that the firm will maintain its current service standards while benefiting from ABG’s expanded resources and market presence. Alan Boswell, executive chairman of ABG, welcomed AT&A into the group, highlighting the shared values and commitment to client service between the two companies.
The acquisition is part of ABG’s active expansion strategy in the insurance sector. Recently, they partnered with niche commercial insurer Peach to expand their scheme for complementary therapists, building on their successful collaboration that began in October 2024 with the teacher’s liability scheme. Peach continues to be the exclusive insurance provider for members of the Association of Reflexologists and the International Federation of Aromatherapists, serving over 2,800 policyholders with public liability and treatment risk cover.
ABG’s recent acquisitions and partnerships demonstrate their growing presence in the insurance industry. The integration of The Insurance Centre’s workforce into ABG’s head office in Norwich is another example of their expansion efforts, ensuring continuity of service for their clients.
