Allianz, BlackRock, and T&D Holdings are the latest firms to invest in Viridium, a German company focused on consolidating life insurance portfolios. They join Generali Financial Holdings and Hannover Re in a newly formed ownership consortium. The significant investment, totaling €3.5 billion, is spearheaded by T&D Holdings, which is taking the largest share.
This investment marks a shift in ownership, as private equity firm Cinven has unvested from its majority stake in Viridium. The company operates independently and specializes in managing closed life insurance portfolios, currently serving 3.4 million policyholders.
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in the second quarter of 2025, pending regulatory and merger-control approvals. This strategic investment will likely strengthen Viridium’s position in the German life insurance market.
