HOUSTON – AmTrust Title Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., has announced an expansion of its presence in Texas. As part of this growth, industry veteran James Gosdin has been appointed as the Head of Direct Underwriting.
Gosdin brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company. He has underwritten title insurance transactions across the United States, including reinsurance and international projects.
Gosdin holds a bachelor’s degree with High Honors and a Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Texas. He is a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Beta Kappa. He is also board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Farm and Ranch, Commercial, and Residential Real Estate.

Gosdin is actively involved in the industry, serving as a member and past chair of the American Land Title Association (ALTA) Forms Committee. He also participates in the ALTA/NSPS Land Survey Work Group, the ALTA Native American Lands Work Group, and the ALTA State Legislative and Regulatory Action Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, and the Houston Bar Association, and he contributes to the Texas Title Standards Joint Editorial Board. Additionally, Gosdin is a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
