AXIS Capital Holdings Limited Announces Senior Leadership Changes
AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has announced a series of senior leadership changes within its global markets division, aimed at improving underwriting effectiveness and operational performance across its specialty insurance lines. The move reflects the company’s intent to bolster collaboration across key business areas while reinforcing leadership depth within its underwriting and operations teams.
“As part of AXIS’s commitment to continual progress and leadership in specialty, we are aligning several of our Global Markets teams where we see clear pathways to work more collaboratively and effectively together,” said Sara Farrup, head of global markets. “Doing so has created opportunities for promotion and expansion of responsibilities and demonstrates the underwriting and leadership acumen within our business.”
Executive Reshuffle Signals Shift in Global Market Strategy
Under the new structure, Sarah Stephen has been promoted to head of liability and will oversee the General Liability and International Casualty MGA teams, both based in London. She will report to Dax Gulmohamed, who has expanded his remit to include oversight of all Global Markets Liability, in addition to his current responsibilities in Professional Lines and as CEO of AXIS Specialty Europe SE.
Meanwhile, Gulmohamed and John Owen, head of specialty, will now report directly to Rory MacGregor, head of underwriting for global markets. The company stated this realignment will provide more unified oversight across its underwriting operations. AXIS also confirmed that its UK Property binder team will now operate under the global markets property division, previously known as Non-Marine, which is led by Steve Cross.
Further changes include the promotion of Raj Brar to head of construction, global markets, following his previous role as head of international casualty and construction MGA. Brar succeeds Anna Woolley, who is set to leave the company later this year. In a newly created role, Sam Patrick has been appointed head of global markets transformation. Formerly head of analytics and innovation at AXIS, Patrick will lead efforts to drive operational efficiency, refine underwriting practices, and support product innovation. He will report to Farrup and work in close collaboration with the division’s leadership team.
Additionally, a recruitment process is underway for the role of head of delegated strategy. This forthcoming position will oversee all coverholder and MGA business within the global markets division and will also report to Farrup.
“Taken together, these actions and appointments help advance our strategic priorities and ability to best deliver for customers in a dynamic marketplace,” Farrup added. “By realigning talent in areas that will enhance collaboration and operational performance within Global Markets, we are progressing in our ambition to be a leader in our chosen specialty markets.”
