BMS Group Strengthens Presence in Turkey with Acquisition of Oria Sigorta

BMS Group Acquires Oria Sigorta to Enhance Turkish Operations

BMS Group has completed the acquisition of Istanbul-based insurance and reinsurance broker Oria Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği A.Ş., marking a significant step in its regional expansion strategy across the Middle East.

Under the terms of the agreement, Oria’s team will be fully integrated into BMS’s Turkish operations and adopt the BMS brand. This strategic move combines BMS’s international platform with Oria’s local market expertise, aiming to broaden service offerings for both clients and insurance partners within Turkey and internationally.

Oria, founded in 2019, specializes in corporate insurance and employee health benefits. The acquisition follows a series of recent strategic moves by BMS to grow its footprint in Europe and the Middle East. Notable recent acquisitions include UK-based David Roberts & Partners and Spanish firm Rasher, alongside its planned entry into the Dubai International Financial Centre, pending regulatory approval.

“Acquiring Oria represents a significant step forward in our EMEA growth strategy,” said Nick Cook, CEO of BMS Group. “Their talented team brings valuable expertise and strong client relationships that will further elevate our capabilities in Turkey.”

Oria founder and CEO Cenk Erden expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating it is a “natural fit built on shared values and a commitment to delivering high-impact, high-value solutions.” Erden will assume the role of chief growth officer and join the board of BMS Turkey.

This acquisition is part of BMS’s continued investment in organizational development. Last year, the company appointed Ali Trauttmansdorff as its new group chief people officer, who joined the executive committee and reports directly to CEO Nick Cook. Her responsibilities include overseeing talent integration following M&A activity, developing recruitment and retention strategies, and leading initiatives in wellbeing, reward, and diversity.

The firm also launched the second edition of its early careers apprenticeship programme in October, building on the initiative started in 2023. This programme supports BMS’s five-year growth plan and is delivered in partnership with organisations including Davies Group, Equity, East London Business Alliance, and the London Market Group’s ‘London Insurance Life’ campaign.
