    Central PA Insurance Agencies Ranked by Premiums in New CPBJ List

    Central PA Insurance Landscape Featured in New CPBJ List

    The Central Penn Business Journal (CPBJ) recently released its annual list of insurance agencies, ranking 14 companies in the Central Pennsylvania area based on their 2024 premiums. The rankings offer a snapshot of the region’s insurance industry and highlight the leading players in the market.

    McConkey Insurance & Benefits, operating from York, secured the top position. The company reported $530 million in premiums and employs 130 people. Michael Harter serves as President, Principal, and CEO. Established in 1890, the firm provides property, casualty, and benefits consulting services.

    Engle-Hambright & Davies of Lancaster took the second spot with $360.77 million in local premiums, led by Michael Malinowski and a staff of 107. Gunn-Mowery, located in Lemoyne, ranked third with $100 million in premiums. The company, led by Greg Gunn, has a workforce of 56 full-time and 12 part-time employees across its seven offices.

    Other notable agencies on the list include:

    • Strickler Agency (Carlisle): $93 million in premiums, with Erik Olsen as President.
    • The Glatfelter Agency (York): Reported $72.95 million in local premiums, with Jennifer Spinks, Jeff Kile, and David Ritter as the leadership team.
    • Insurance Alliance Network (Denver, PA): Ranked sixth with $61.37 million in premiums, led by Amy Gohsler.
    • Covenant Insurance Group (York): Generated $35.1 million in premiums, with 33 employees.
    • Reilly Insurance (Camp Hill): Reported $32 million in premiums with a team of executives including Steve McNally, Scott Luster, and Mike Kondraski.
    • The Patton Group (York): Produced $30 million in premiums, managed by partners Chris and Michael Patton.
    • Keller-Brown Insurance Services (Shrewsbury): The oldest agency on the list, dating back to 1899, reported $16.95 million in premiums.
