    Corebridge Life Insurance Review 2025

Corebridge Financial, previously known as AIG Life & Retirement, offers a variety of life insurance policies. This review will examine the company’s offerings, financial standing, customer satisfaction, and provide insights to help you make an informed decision.

Corebridge Financial earned a NerdWallet rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars for overall performance. While the company offers a broad range of policies, low customer service ratings are a notable concern.

    Overview

    Pros:

    • Offers term life insurance with 18 different length options, extending up to 35 years.

    Cons:

    • High number of customer complaints to regulators compared to other companies of similar size.

    Why Trust NerdWallet:

    • 1,413 life insurance rates sets collected.
    • 441 life insurers analyzed.
    • 185 policies assessed.

Corebridge Financial is a major player in the U.S. life insurance market. In addition to life insurance, Corebridge provides employer and individual retirement solutions and various investment products.

Customer satisfaction is a potential weakness for Corebridge, despite its good financial strength rating. The company receives a higher-than-expected number of complaints from state regulators. In a recent J.D. Power customer satisfaction survey, Corebridge ranked near the bottom.

    Corebridge Life Insurance Policies

Policies are available through Corebridge Direct, a subsidiary, or through independent insurance agents.

    • Term Life Insurance: Corebridge offers a Select-a-Term life insurance product that can be converted to permanent coverage. It provides 18 different term lengths, from 10 to 35 years, and coverage amounts from $100,000 to over $1 million. The accelerated death benefit is automatically included and applies to terminal illnesses only.
    • Permanent Life Insurance: Offers several types, each with potential for cash value accumulation:
      • Guaranteed issue whole life insurance: Coverage ranges from $5,000 to $25,000 for applicants aged 50 to 80, with no medical exam or health questions.
      • Simplified issue whole life insurance: Offers lifetime coverage of $5,000 to $35,000, also for ages 50 to 80. This doesn’t require an exam, but applicants must answer some medical questions.
      • Universal life insurance: This provides flexible lifelong coverage, with the ability to adjust premiums and death benefits. Options include indexed universal life insurance, with cash value growth tied to a stock or bond index, and guaranteed universal life insurance, which has a guaranteed death benefit.

Various life insurance riders are available and may be included in certain policies. Some Corebridge policies offer living benefits to cover chronic, critical, and terminal illnesses.

    Corebridge Customer Complaints and Satisfaction

Over a three-year period, Corebridge Financial has received a higher-than-expected number of complaints to state regulators, based on an analysis of data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

In the 2024 U.S. Life Insurance Study by J.D. Power, Corebridge Financial ranked No. 21 out of 21 companies for overall customer satisfaction.

How NerdWallet Reviews Life Insurance Companies

In the reviews, NerdWallet’s editorial team examines both the customer experience and the insurer’s standing:

    • Policies Offered: Reviews the range of available life insurance types (term, permanent, no-exam).
    • Financial Strength: Uses AM Best ratings to ascertain the insurer’s long-term financial stability and ability to pay claims. NerdWallet generally recommends insurers with ratings of A- or higher.
    • Complaints: Assesses complaint data from state regulators relative to a company’s size, using data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
    • Buy Online: Notes whether policies can be applied for and purchased entirely online.

    Life Insurance Buying Guide

Before comparing companies, consider the type of life insurance you want, determine which riders you need, calculate the amount of coverage needed, and decide on the length of the policy. When comparing rates, ensure they are for the same coverage amount and term. Also, make sure the medical requirements match your needs. Consumer complaints are a crucial factor, as a high number can be a red flag.
