CrowdStrike Elevates Hybrid Identity Protection with Falcon Identity Protection for Microsoft Entra ID
AUSTIN, Texas – CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) has announced the general availability of Falcon Identity Protection for Microsoft Entra ID. This new offering extends CrowdStrike’s existing inline prevention capabilities to cloud-based Microsoft Entra ID, enhancing identity security across hybrid environments.
The launch of Falcon Identity Protection for Microsoft Entra ID addresses a critical security challenge: 75% of initial access attacks are now malware-free, with adversaries exploiting trusted identities to infiltrate organizations. This underscores the need for robust identity protection solutions.
“Identity is at the center of modern cyberattacks, yet organizations are forced to secure it with fragmented solutions that leave dangerous gaps,” said Elia Zaitsev, chief technology officer at CrowdStrike. “CrowdStrike delivers unified, real-time time protection across every area of hybrid environments—stopping adversaries at every stage of the attack. By extending protection to Entra ID, we’re once again raising the bar for identity security.”
The CrowdStrike Falcon platform, a unified cybersecurity platform, combines real-time prevention with advanced identity threat detection and response (ITDR). This holistic approach secures the entire identity attack lifecycle.
Key features of Falcon Identity Protection for Microsoft Entra ID include:
- Real-time protection for Entra ID: AI-powered protection against threats such as password spraying and phishing, which target Entra ID environments.
- Unified identity and endpoint security: Leveraging Microsoft’s External Authentication Method (EAM) integration, Falcon Identity Protection uses both CrowdStrike and Microsoft trust signals to secure access at login. Native endpoint visibility from the Falcon sensor enforces security based on both device and identity risk.
- Hybrid risk-based conditional access: Access controls are enforced via a single interface, dynamically injecting MFA based on real-time threats across various platforms, including on-premises AD, cloud-based identity providers like Entra ID, Okta, and Ping, and SaaS applications.
Paul Colon, security engineer at Addition Financial, noted the importance of seamless security in today’s hybrid environments. He stated, “CrowdStrike continues to innovate Falcon Identity Protection, providing seamless, real-time security across both on-premises and cloud-based systems. By unifying identity protection into a single platform, CrowdStrike helps us stay ahead of emerging threats without introducing complexity.”
The solution’s release aligns with CrowdStrike’s platform expansion strategy, creating upsell opportunities and potential for increased customer retention.
The integration with Microsoft’s EAM is particularly noteworthy, enabling CrowdStrike to add significant value within Microsoft environments while maintaining its independent security position.
CrowdStrike leverages advanced AI trained on trillions of security events, incorporating native device trust data and threat intelligence to analyze user behavior, providing risk-based access decisions.
