Know What You’re Really Getting with a Vehicle Inspection

Buying a used car can be a gamble, even for those who know their way around an engine. To help you make a confident and well-informed decision, NRMA has teamed up with RedBook Inspect, offering members access to pre-purchase vehicle inspections. These inspections can help you uncover potential issues before you commit to a purchase, giving you peace of mind on the road.

    Why Choose RedBook Inspect?

RedBook Inspect provides comprehensive vehicle inspections, offering a thorough check of the vehicle’s condition. They also offer remote video assessments, where an expert can guide you through the inspection process remotely. This service can be particularly valuable for those who can’t physically inspect the vehicle themselves or need an expert opinion.

    Member Benefits

NRMA members enjoy exclusive discounts on RedBook Inspect services. These benefits include:

    • Pre-purchase vehicle inspections: Receive a discount on the RRP.
    • Remote Video Assessments: Save on the RRP for a remote evaluation of the vehicle.

    Inspection Costs

The cost of an inspection can vary depending on the type of vehicle. NRMA members receive the best prices. Here are some examples of costs:

    • Car (Sedan, station wagon, SUV, van or ute): From $280 (members), from $290 (non-members)
    • Prestige vehicles: From $329 (members), from $339 (non-members)
    • 10+ year old cars: From $329 (members), from $339 (non-members)
    • Super Car: From $380 (members), from $390 (non-members)
    • Hyper Car: From $530 (members), from $540 (non-members)

    How It Works

RedBook Inspect makes the process easy even if you are not an NRMA member:

    1. Book online: Visit the NRMA website to book your inspection. If you’re an NRMA member, be sure to provide your membership number to redeem your discount.
    2. Arrange the inspection: RedBook Inspect will contact the vehicle owner to schedule a convenient time for the inspection. They will coordinate with the seller to arrange an inspection time.
    3. The inspection: A qualified inspector will conduct a thorough assessment of the vehicle.
    4. Receive your detailed report: You’ll receive a comprehensive visual inspection report, including comments, ratings, and a CarFacts history report.

What’s Included In a RedBook Inspection

A RedBook Inspect pre-purchase inspection involves a visual inspection and doesn’t include mechanical checks, such as engine performance and compression. The inspection will cover the vehicle’s exterior, interior, engine condition, and any accident damage. The inspector will also check wheels, tyres, brakes pads and the underbody. Where possible the inspector will conduct a road test.
