A new study by Figo Pet Insurance, conducted by Morning Consult, sheds light on the evolving landscape of pet ownership across different generations. The survey, based on online interviews with over 2,000 pet parents, delves into various aspects of pet care, from dietary habits to encounters with forbidden snacks.
The study reveals interesting generational variances. A significant portion of pet owners admit to catching their furry friends in the act of pilfering human food. Among these owners, 30% have had to seek veterinary care for their pet following a countertop caper that involved a prohibited treat. This percentage jumps to 41% among Gen Z pet owners, indicating a greater propensity for counter-surfing incidents within this demographic.
When asked about sustainability practices in pet food and treat purchases, nearly 60% of Gen Z owners stated they consider eco-friendly options at least “most of the time.” This strong emphasis on sustainability suggests a growing awareness of environmental impact among younger pet owners.
