French pet insurance startup Dalma has secured €20 million in a Series B funding round led by Breega, with participation from Northzone, Anterra Capital, and Bpifrance’s Digital Venture 3 fund. This recent investment brings the total funding raised by Dalma to over €50 million.
Founded in 2021, Dalma provides pet insurance for cats and dogs, leveraging Seyna’s platform. The startup experienced significant growth, expanding its coverage from over 20,000 pets in 2022 to 60,000 pets currently.
“This funding opens a decisive new chapter for Dalma in its mission to revolutionize pet welfare across Europe. Our vision goes beyond traditional insurance: we aim to transform the way pet parents care for their companions. This new growth phase will enable us not only to strengthen our presence in France and Germany but also to accelerate our expansion into new European markets,” explained Alban de Préville, Co-founder of Dalma.
Benjamin Deplus, Partner at Breega, emphasized the unique market position of Dalma, stating, “Dalma is capturing a unique market timing and dynamics, combining a societal wave in favor of animal welfare with inflationary pressure in the broader veterinary sector. Their natural response: an insurance and prevention product for pets, which has already convinced nearly 60,000 owners. Breega is very happy to join this adventure alongside Alban and Raphaël.”
