FWJ Insurance, a local health insurance provider, marked its grand opening in Killeen, Texas, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and raffle in collaboration with the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce. The event took place at the company’s office in the One Killeen Center.
FWJ Insurance specializes in Medicare-related matters, founded and owned by Freeman Witherspoon, a 24-year military veteran. “When I was in the military, I was a medic,” Witherspoon stated. “I wanted to continue to stay close to the military community and healthcare.” He explained that he established the business approximately two years ago and recently relocated the office to the One Killeen Center about six months prior. Previously, the business was situated downtown. Witherspoon referred to Wednesday’s event as a relaunch.
“I wanted to make sure we continue to connect and provide service to our veterans,” Witherspoon said, noting that his business is also focused on helping the general public with their healthcare needs and challenges.
In addition to his commitment to the community, Witherspoon is also focused on helping clients understand the complexities of insurance. Witherspoon is also offering free educational sessions on Saturdays at 10 a.m. He noted that he is available for any questions that clients might have. “The best way to help is by providing education,” He elaborated.
Witherspoon came to the Killeen area in 2000 while in the military service and eventually decided to stay. He noted, “I like how warm Killeen is in its character.”
Reflecting on the Killeen area, he continued to serve the region on what he wanted to do.
“I know there isn’t anything easy about being a healthcare broker,” Witherspoon stated. “I’m just trying to be a resource to the community.”
