The Great Bay Insurance Group has announced key leadership changes as part of its ongoing management strategy, appointing Timothy J. Byrne Jr. as president of the group and Ronald R. Lovatt as president of Great Bay Insurance Company, a wholly owned affiliate.
Byrne Jr., who previously served as the group’s chief operating officer, will now oversee all corporate support functions and will continue to report to Timothy J. Byrne Sr., chief executive officer of the group. He brings nearly 15 years of industry experience to his new role and holds degrees from the University of Vermont and St. John’s University, as well as a CPCU designation.
Lovatt, a founding member of the group, has 40 years of experience in the insurance industry. He will continue to serve as chief underwriting and claims officer in addition to his new role as president of Great Bay Insurance Company. Lovatt holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Miami University.
Established in 2019, the Great Bay Insurance Group specializes in coastal homeowners’ insurance in New Jersey. The group is managed by a team with more than 70 years of combined experience in the coastal New Jersey insurance market.
In July of last year, Brian Schleider was appointed chief financial officer, bringing three decades of experience in finance and accounting from previous roles at other industry firms.
