Greater Noida Man Killed Father for Insurance Money
Greater Noida, India – A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 48-year-old father in December 2024 to claim a ₹50 lakh life insurance policy. Police say the son, Santosh Bosak, planned to use the insurance money to settle a ₹21 lakh housing loan.
According to police reports, the victim, Prakash Bosak, originally from Bihar, had moved to the Noida area about 20 years ago and ran a spice packing business. He resided with his two children in a village in Sikandrabad.
“On the night of December 12, 2024, Santosh Bosak reported to the police that an unidentified man had killed his father by slitting his throat. Bosak claimed the incident occurred while he and his father were returning from Delhi,” said Sudhir Kumar, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Greater Noida. The incident took place under the Sikandarabad jurisdiction, but the case was taken up by the Kasna police station, which is on the border of Sikandrabad.
After the murder, Santosh Bosak claimed his father’s ₹50 lakh life insurance. However, police became suspicious when they recorded the family’s statement about the insurance. Investigation revealed that the family had taken out a ₹12.5 lakh loan in 2022 for a plot of land in Bulandshahr, with a monthly EMI of ₹12,500. Facing financial difficulties, the father and son took another loan of ₹21 lakh to pay off the first. They received ₹20.50 lakh, with a monthly EMI of ₹21,000, insuring 60% of the amount, the ADCP said.
“After repaying the first loan, they paid the monthly EMI of ₹21 lakh until the remaining money was exhausted. But when Bosak again felt the pressure of the EMI, he opted to kill his father and claim his life insurance to settle the loan,” the ADCP explained. The probe showed that on December 12, Bosak was returning home with his father. He had a knife and used it to kill Prakash when the latter got out of the vehicle to relieve himself. Bosak then inflicted a wound on himself with the same knife, but forensic experts later determined it was likely self-inflicted.

Police said that as Bosak’s mother was the nominee but uneducated, he took advantage of it and siphoned off all the money.
Police stated that Bosak’s mother was the policy nominee, but as she was uneducated, Santosh took advantage of the situation and took all the money. He has been charged with Section 302 (murder) of the BNS, and the investigation is continuing.
