HL Assurance Unveils New Travel Insurance Add-Ons, Tailored for Today’s Travelers

SINGAPORE – March 13, 2025 – HL Assurance is enhancing its travel insurance offerings with the launch of three new essential add-ons. Catering to the changing demands of modern travelers, these additions provide a more comprehensive and flexible approach to travel protection.

First in Singapore to Offer Key Add-Ons

HL Assurance is breaking new ground by introducing a combination of travel insurance add-ons, a first in the Singapore market. These include coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, a reduced payout time for flight delays, and protection for the loss of frequent flyer miles. This strategic move reinforces HL Assurance’s position as a leader in the travel insurance sector, providing customers with more relevant and adaptable coverage options.

Meeting the Needs of a Resurgent Travel Market

With air travel nearly back to pre-pandemic levels—Changi Airport recorded 67.7 million passenger movements in 2024—the need for robust travel insurance is more critical than ever. Unexpected issues such as flight delays, medical emergencies, and trip disruptions continue to be significant concerns. Statistics show that flight delays affected as many as 37% of flights worldwide.

HL Assurance recognizes the shift away from one-size-fits-all insurance models. Today’s travelers increasingly seek more agile solutions that cater specifically to their unique needs. The new add-ons are designed to expedite claims processes, offer flexible coverage, and provide relevant protection against emerging concerns.

“We believe that insurance should evolve with the needs of today’s travellers,” said HL Assurance CEO Kelvin Lim. “Our new travel add-ons are designed to address real concerns—whether it’s ensuring pre-existing medical conditions are covered, allowing earlier claims for flight delays, or protecting valuable travel rewards.”

    Breakdown of the New Add-Ons

The new travel insurance enhancements comprise three key components:

    • Pre-existing medical conditions: This add-on offers broader protection for travelers with existing health issues.
    • Reduced flight delay payout time: Enabling claims after only a three-hour delay, as opposed to the standard six-hour waiting period.
    • Loss of frequent flyer miles: Protecting travelers from losing accumulated mileage due to cancellations.

    Special Launch Benefits for Travelers

To celebrate the launch of these enhanced options, HL Assurance is providing exclusive benefits:

    • Single-trip plans will be offered at reduced rates of up to 55% for a limited time.
    • Returning customers can benefit from reduced premiums on future plans through the No Claim Discount (NCD) benefit.
    • Customers who purchase TravelProtect360 plans by June 2025 will have a chance to win complimentary flight tickets to a dream vacation.

Kelvin Lim emphasized the importance of a customer-centric approach, noting how such strategies allow HL Assurance to meet customer expectations. “This is part of our commitment to transforming the travel insurance experience—making it more flexible, relevant, and seamless for every journey,” said Lim.

HL Assurance’s new travel insurance add-ons are available from March 13, 2025, as part of their TravelProtect360 plans. For more information, visit the HL Assurance website or contact an authorized agent.
