How My Sam’s Club Membership Helped Me Save on Pet Insurance

As a Sam’s Club member, I’ve found a lot of value in my membership, especially when it comes to saving money. One of the less obvious perks is access to competitive rates on pet insurance. Recently, my Sam’s Club membership helped me find affordable pet insurance through Pets Best, with plans starting at just $9 a month.

We adopted our dog, Joy, from a rescue shelter in 2019. She was about 2½ years old and full of life, so her name perfectly suited her. Joy has always been energetic and cuddly, and thankfully, we’d never had a health scare until recently.

Earlier this year, I returned home from errands to find Joy exhibiting a strange, hoarse cough. We took her to the vet, and while I was relieved she was okay, the nearly $400 bill gave me pause. That’s when I decided to look into pet insurance to ensure Joy could receive the best care without breaking the bank. The idea of making financially savvy choices was definitely a bonus.

During my research, I learned that Sam’s Club members receive a 10% discount with Pets Best. Pets Best offers various coverage levels including accidents, illnesses, and routine care. It was an easy decision for peace of mind and financial stability. I value an easy process without tons of paperwork or phone calls.

Pets Best stood out for several reasons:

    • Accepted at any veterinary clinic in the U.S.
    • Direct payment options to your vet
    • No age limits for pets
    • Discounts for insuring additional pets
    • Optional wellness coverage

I obtained a quote and explored my options. Pets Best offered an accident-only plan for $9 a month with a $10,000 annual limit, a $250 deductible, and 90% reimbursement. They also offered a Plus plan (accidents and illnesses) and an Elite plan (highest coverage). The quotes I received were very competitive.

The waiting period for coverage is three days for accidents and 14 days for illnesses.

Getting Joy insured was a quick and easy process. Once I received the quote, Pets Best clearly outlined what was covered. I was then prompted to agree to terms and enter my credit card information. Once the payment for the first month processed, I received the full policy via email.

Now, we are saving the $250 deductible amount in a high-yield savings account to cover potential costs. Pet accidents can be quite costly, and I’m incredibly thankful for this safety net. With pet insurance, I have increased peace of mind that extends to Joy’s ongoing health and well-being
