Major Data Breach at HR Firm Exposes 4 Million Records
A significant data breach at VeriSource Services, a Texas-based HR administration provider, has resulted in the exposure of personal information belonging to approximately 4 million individuals. The breach, discovered on February 28, 2024, occurred when an unknown attacker gained unauthorized access to the company’s systems around February 27, 2024.
The compromised data includes sensitive information such as full names, mailing addresses, dates of birth, gender, and Social Security numbers. It took the company over a year to fully assess the breach’s impact and identify all affected individuals. Preliminary breach notices were sent to about 55,000 people in May 2024 and another 112,000 in September 2024, but the majority of the 4 million victims weren’t notified until April 2025.
