ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has appointed Anuradha Bhatia as an Additional (Independent) Director, effective March 2025. Bhatia brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and roles within direct tax administration, including leading the Maharashtra State Electricity Board. This appointment, announced in a recent regulatory filing, marks a significant addition to the company’s board.
The appointment, approved by the ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company’s Board, is for a five-year term, commencing March 12, 2025, and concluding on March 11, 2030. Bhatia previously served as a Member (Technical) of the NCLT in Mumbai, and before that, she was a Retired Principal Chief Commissioner Income Tax.
During her time at the NCLT, Bhatia was deeply involved in administering the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and the Companies Act, 2013. Her responsibilities included adjudicating matters related to dispute resolution, liquidation, insolvency, bankruptcy, oppression and mismanagement, and corporate mergers and amalgamations.
Bhatia’s career spans over three decades in Direct Tax Administration, culminating in her oversight of 23 districts in Maharashtra as Principal Chief Commissioner, Income Tax (Pune). She also served as a Director (Finance) on the Board of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board, where she oversaw debt and financial restructuring. Currently, she is a Senior Partner at A. B. Advisor and ABW Legal, advisory firms.
