Indonesia: Regulator Delays Mandatory Vehicle Insurance Programme
By Sarah Si | 06 Feb 2025

According to the Jakarta Globe, the implementation of mandatory third-party liability (TPL) insurance for motor vehicles in Indonesia has been delayed. The country’s financial services authority, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), is waiting for a government regulation before proceeding.
The program was originally scheduled to launch in January 2025. This delay underscores the regulatory complexities involved in implementing such a widespread insurance requirement.
