The Life Insurance Association and the Non-life Insurance Association have joined forces to provide financial support to the Korean Red Cross for forest fire relief efforts across South Korea.

The associations collectively donated 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross, with 50 million won coming from each group. The funds are designated for assisting the areas and victims impacted by the forest fires, specifically in regions such as Ulsan, Sancheong (Gyeongsangnam-do), and Uiseong (Gyeongsangbuk-do).
The relief funds will be utilized to supply shelter, emergency relief provisions, prepared meals, and laundry and bath vehicles, as well as support firefighters.
The Life Insurance Social Contribution Committee, operating under the core values of life insurance which emphasize respect for life and mutual support, allocates social contribution funds annually from life insurers to support those in need within different sectors of society.
Kim Chul-joo, chairman of the Life Insurance Committee, stated, “We offer our sincere comfort to those affected by the forest fire. We hope to overcome the crisis and quickly return to our daily lives.”
The Non-life Insurance Social Contribution Council has been providing emergency relief funds through the Korean Red Cross since 2023. They have also been producing emergency food sets for victims in advance.
Lee Byung-rae, chairman of the Non-life Insurance Social Contribution Council, expressed his hope that the victims of the forest fires would return to their normal lives as swiftly as possible, wishing safety for all those involved in the relief operations.
