Marquette Business has appointed Jae Junkunc as the head of its new Insurance Leadership Program. Junkunc joins the institution from Northwestern Mutual, where she served as vice president of corporate strategic planning. “I am thrilled to welcome Jae into this new role,” said Andrew DeGuire, Keyes Dean of Business Administration. “We see significant potential in this insurance program due to our strong employer partnerships and the industry’s needs. Jae is the ideal person to further develop both aspects while ensuring we provide the best possible education to future industry leaders.”
Junkunc brings almost three decades of experience in the financial sector, with 17 years specifically in the insurance industry. Before her tenure at Northwestern Mutual, she was a vice president at Prudential Financial, where she managed strategy for the group insurance division. Her leadership was instrumental in the growth of an insurance carrier with over $4 billion in annual premiums. She also held senior positions at MassMutual.
“I’m excited to bring my knowledge, contacts, and hands-on experience from my insurance career to Marquette,” Junkunc stated. “Wisconsin is one of the most exciting insurance markets in the country. I’m looking forward to showing students the numerous opportunities available in the industry and helping them forge their own paths into it.”
Marquette Business introduced its first insurance class in Fall 2023, co-taught by Instructor of Practice Lora Reinholz and Insurance Executive-in-Residence Mark Afable. The program plans to expand its coursework and applied learning experiences in the upcoming academic year.
