Insurance Industry Sees Key Appointments
The insurance industry has witnessed significant leadership changes with Marsh announcing the appointment of Typhaine Beaupérin as client leader for Risk Management in Europe, effective June 2025. Meanwhile, Sompo International Holdings Ltd. has named Nicholas Walsh as its new independent non-executive chairman of the Board of Directors.
Marsh Appoints Beaupérin to Lead Risk Management in Europe
Typhaine Beaupérin will join Marsh from the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA), where she has served as CEO and secretary general for nearly a decade. Based in Brussels, Beaupérin will report to Lorraine Stack, risk management leader for Europe. Her role will involve delivering tailored solutions to support European clients’ risk management needs, leveraging her extensive experience and Marsh McLennan’s capabilities across its four businesses.

“Typhaine is a dedicated advocate for the risk management profession across Europe and internationally, with a deep understanding of the industry and commitment to driving positive change,” Stack said. “With her leadership, I am confident that she will help us deliver ever greater innovative solutions and strategic advice that meet our clients’ evolving needs.”
Sompo International Holdings Strengthens Leadership
Nicholas Walsh succeeds James Shea, who was appointed CEO of Sompo P&C in addition to his role as CEO and executive director of Sompo International Holdings Ltd. (SIH). Walsh has extensive experience, having spent 42 years with AIG in various leadership positions before retiring as vice chairman of AIG Property and Casualty Inc. in 2014.
In related appointments, Monica Cramér Manhem has been named as an independent non-executive director, and Yoshihiro Uotani, Sompo’s group chief risk officer, has been appointed as a non-executive director to the SIH Board. Cramér Manhem brings broad expertise across underwriting, communications, analytics, strategic, and regulatory topics, while Uotani’s knowledge will help navigate the complex global risk landscape.
“The appointments of Monica and Uotani-san will strengthen even further the depth of expertise within our SIH Board,” Shea commented. “Monica brings with her a wealth of experience, and Uotani-san’s extensive knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to grow our business.”
These leadership changes reflect the ongoing evolution in the insurance industry, with a focus on enhancing risk management capabilities and strategic guidance for clients.
