The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, met with transport stakeholders on Wednesday to address the ongoing enforcement of third-party motor insurance requirements for vehicles operating on Kano State roads.

Commissioner Garba convened with leaders from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners, the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, and the Chairman of Kano Line Motor Park. This information was released in a statement on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna.

During the meeting, the Commissioner expressed appreciation for the stakeholders’ cooperation and acknowledged the high level of compliance among vehicle owners in the state. He highlighted that over 85% of motor vehicle owners already had the necessary third-party motor insurance documentation from the initial day of enforcement.

“The Kano State Police Command will continue to enforce the third-party motor insurance requirement, in accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,” SP Haruna stated.

The Commissioner urged stakeholders to inform their members about the importance of cooperation with the police and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station using the following contacts: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09019292926. He also encouraged the public to continue adhering to traffic rules and regulations to improve road safety across the state.

Commissioner Garba commended the public for their cooperation and urged motor vehicle owners and operators to promptly secure their third-party insurance. The statement emphasized the essential need for compliance to avoid legal repercussions and improve the safety of all road users.
