State-owned Insurer Achieves Guinness World Record
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned a Guinness World Record for selling the highest number of life insurance policies in 24 hours. On January 20, 2025, the company successfully issued 588,107 policies across India, marking a significant achievement in the insurance industry.
A total of 452,839 LIC agents participated in this massive effort, demonstrating exceptional productivity within a short timeframe. The record attempt was part of an initiative called “Mad Million Day,” led by LIC’s CEO and MD, Siddhartha Mohanty, who encouraged agents to complete at least one policy on that day.
LIC expressed pride in this achievement, stating it was a testament to their agents’ dedication, skill, and hard work. The company views this record as validation of their commitment to providing financial protection to customers and their families.
The Guinness World Records recognition highlights LIC’s significant presence in the Indian insurance market and its ability to mobilize its vast network of agents towards a common goal. This achievement not only sets a new benchmark for the industry but also demonstrates the effectiveness of LIC’s business strategies and agent engagement initiatives.
