Man Kills Father in Insurance Scheme
Noida: A Bulandshahr spice trader has been arrested for allegedly killing his father last year in Kasna, then dumping the body to collect the insurance money and settle home loan debts. The incident occurred in 2024.

After Prakash Bosak’s body was discovered near Jalalpur on August 8, 2024, his son, Santosh, filed a police complaint claiming his father was murdered by unknown individuals. During the investigation, authorities discovered that Prakash was killed in a deserted location in Kasna. The case was then transferred to Ghaziabad in December.
Additional DCP Sudhir Kumar indicated that inconsistencies in Santosh’s account raised suspicions regarding his involvement in Prakash’s death. “During investigation, it was found that Santosh killed his father to claim his insurance policies worth approximately Rs 20-25 lakh,” Kumar stated. The murder plot, according to the police account, stemmed from financial difficulties. Father and son had purchased a house in 2022 for Rs 12.5 lakh. When monthly installments became hard to manage, they secured a larger loan of Rs 20.5 lakh from a housing finance company. This new loan was connected to Prakash’s life insurance policy, which would cover 60% of the payment upon his death.
Santosh’s spice business was already struggling, and he discovered his father had additional life insurance policies. He then created a plan to kill him. On the day of the murder, Santosh took his father to a deserted area on their way back from Delhi. He killed Prakash with a kitchen knife, and then inflicted injuries on himself to create a scene that would support his story of an attack by unknown assailants.
“Santosh disposed of the murder weapon in nearby bushes before alerting his family. He later claimed the insurance money without informing his mother or brother and arranged for the loan settlement with insurance companies,” said the additional DCP.
Police stated that Santosh’s insurance claim had passed scrutiny even with the standard verification processes for claim settlements, especially in cases involving suspicious deaths of policyholders.
The accused has been charged with murder under BNS section 103(1). Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
